Dragon scales are body armor that might be dropped by a dragon. Being made of dragon hide, they are erodeproof, and do not hinder spellcasting.

Dragon scales have a relatively weak AC of 3, but can be converted into the corresponding dragon scale mail using a non-cursed scroll of enchant armor.

The chance of a dragon dropping scales is 1/3, but this drops to 1/20 if the dragon is revived.^[1]

Polymorphing while donning dragon scales turn you into a dragon of the same color, with the message "You merge with your scaly armor".^[2]
