I read the articles on alignment, murder, and sacrifices, but I just want to be sure:

If I'm a chaotic human, then it's perfectly acceptable (and beneficial to me) to kill a watchman and sacrifice his corpse, correct?

Yes. It's harmless to kill him if you are chaotic, and gives you 5 points of alignment (and luck depending on the altar's alignment) to sacrifice you own race. On the practical side, however, you want to make sure the Minetown Watch won't get angry until you are strong enough to deal with them.
