I was playing nethack as Val-Hum-Fem-Law. I went down to the floor above the Mine's End straight from the first floor and I had the maximum HP of 77 then. A gnome read a cursed scroll of create monster and I was surrounded by a crowd of unfamiliar, strong (for me) monsters. No Elbereth, praying, digging a hole down worked and I died.
