I'm having trouble deciding if it is preferable for a wizard to be elf, gnome, or human.
Attribute-wise, I am unsure if the smaller carrying capacity of the elf and the reduced HP are worth the bonuses to intelligence and wisdom.
Human has great strength for combat, but until I get telepathy I find it hard to survive without infra-vision.
Gnome appears to be the easiest at low level, with good strength and constitution, infra-vision, and friendly Gnomish Mines.
