Izchak Miller was one of the original NetHack developers. He died in 1994 from cancer. In honor of his many contributions, including a large amount of the shopkeeper logic, the lighting store shopkeeper in Minetown is named after him.
Out of respect for his memory, it is normally considered bad form to intentionally steal from or attack Izchak.
