A kitten is a small housecat. Several classes start off with a kitten as a pet. Given time and food, this cat will grow into a housecat, and finally into a large cat.
A kitten is more dangerous than the name might suggest... it's base AC of 5 is rather low compared to similar monsters that the player might run into at the time a kitten appears.
As with the housecat and large cat, eating one will anger your god, and give you the aggravate monster intrinsic.
