Mimics
Mimics are a monster class in Nethack. This class consists solely of mimics; monsters that disguise themselves as objects, such as boulders, boxes, chests, doors, and stairs. They can be uncovered if the suspected object is searched or approached. They are most commonly found at stores.
Two giant mimics are always generated disguised as boulders on the final level of Sokoban. They are easy to identify there, however, because the level's boulders are mappped immediately, but the mimic does not appear until it is in the player's line of sight. A boulder that appears only as you turn a corner is one of the mimics.
