This scroll should be blanked in most cases.  This is a bad escape item because you cannot use this when you are being attack because it takes 1 turn to read and then you have to hit the monster, and it is terrible for multiple monsters.  It may be worth it in the early game, but later you will (hopefully) have much better escape items.

The scroll of confuse monster will make your hands glow red. If you hit any monster in melee while your hands glow, the monster will become confused.

If the scroll is cursed, or you have polymorphed into a monster, it will confuse you for 1d100 turns. If you're confused, the scroll will either confuse you for 1d100 more turns, or if it's blessed, will remove confusion.

A cursed scroll of confusion, or if you are polymorphed any scroll of confusion, can be used to confuse yourself to erodeproof weapons or armor, using a non-cursed scroll of enchant weapon/armor, or a cursed scroll of destroy armor. See Confusion#Confused_scroll_effects for more uses of confusion. This is usually not worth it, unless you have no other easily known method, and a unicorn horn to cure yourself when you are done or a safe place to lock yourself in with a key with Elbereth engraved on your feet for the duration. Potions of booze or confusion can last a lot less time than 1d100 turns, so these are usually better to use for confusion, and in the late game should be used instead instead of wasting blank-able scrolls.
