I still play NetHack occasionally, but not with the obsession I once did. Managed to Ascend in Vanilla in several but not all of the classes. Have played SLASH'EM, and not gotten very far at all.
I have also created alternate tilesets for both vanilla NetHack and SLASH'EM that attempt to combine the compactness of ASCII with the extra info supplied by other tilesets. You can see them here.
