A shattering blow is an effect that happens roughly 2.5% of the time when you are fighting while wielding a two-handed weapon, or are a samurai wielding a katana, and your skill in that weapon is Skilled or better. If you perform a shattering blow on a monster, the monster's wielded weapon is destroyed, and the monster will turn to flee 75% of the time;[1] this will occur before any damage from the blow itself.

A flimsy weapon cannot be shattered.
