What about noncursed scroll of earth? I think it's a good escape item. When you are on open space, and a lot of monsters nearby, you can face one monster a time. --91.127.101.174 14:03, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

That's not really an escape, because you're still there facing a monster. --MadDawg2552 14:27, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
If /oF and /oL make the list, certainly ?oE deserves it too. --Mogri 16:12, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm not saying ?oE can't be used as an escape item. I was saying that the way the above person wanted to use it is not considered an escape. It's more of a battle strategy. --MadDawg2552 22:51, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
From the article: An escape item refers to any object that can instantly get you out of a trouble. These are the ones you will search your inventory for when cornered by a tough monster, being pulled underwater, or something similar. It refers to escaping from a situation, rather than a physical relocation. There might be other items that accomplish this as well. --Mogri 18:08, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Leaving the level with nasties...

If you're trying to run from say Orcus, and he's next to you, if you use the Eye, he can follow. I don't know if this is true of level-teleportation or using cursed potions of gain level. But if it is true, those should have a note added as well.

Yikes--that would totally suck. But this does not seem to be possible with a cursed potion of gain level--truly, your best get out of jail free card, and the key item in my "In Case of Demogorgon" survival kit.

Possibly N/A to 3.6.0+ suggestion?

Regarding athames (including Magicbane), I don't think that "ELBerethELBerethELB, adding 9 characters' worth of ELBereth" would work anymore. -Actual-nh (talk) 20:06, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

80% chance to scare? Also, add bugles here.

The section for tooled horns and leather drums says:

"Scares monsters, 80% chance, even those that don't respect Elbereth."

I just looked in the source and don't see an 80% chance anywhere, just resistance. Also, bugles, although they don't share the same code, seem to act the same way as tooled horns with regards to scaring monsters.
