Talk:The Sceptre of Might
What happens if you invoke it for conclict, then drop it? What if you pick it up against afterwards? 131.118.50.113 14:15, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
- Dropping the Sceptre, or putting in in a container, or having it stolen, turns off the invoked conflict. It stays off even when you pick it up again, although you can turn it back on when it's no longer tired. The Orb of Detection and Heart of Ahriman work the same way. --Darth l33t 18:56, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
- thanks. So you would pretty much never want to waste an invoke to turn conflict off? (except in situtions where you don't want to risk losing MR for even one turn) 131.118.34.73 21:26, November 13, 2010 (UTC)
Wish
I just artiwished this from an early /oW, and it evaded my grasp (likely because I had lowered alignment from killing 2 dwarves.) If I raise my alignment and come back, could I pick it up without it evading me? Yes, I am lawful. 76.252.202.148 20:47, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. the "Evade you grip" check occurs when you touch it. Even if you were neutral, you could go get an hooa or perma convert, come back, and then pick it up. Btw, the channel #nethack on the freenode irc network is a faster place to get questions answered normally. It's faster, unless someone happens to be watching the wiki change feed in #nethackwiki. EvilHack's Sceptre
The gemstone's +3 damage bonus only applies to slashing or piercing weapons, so it doesn't apply to the Sceptre's damage.--Hackemslashem (talk) 12:10, 5 February 2024 (UTC)hackemslashem

Lawful monsters in Gehennemon
The text states that lawful monsters don't generate in Gehennemon, but what about the lawful major demons who accept bribes (Asmodeus, etc)? --A1 (talk) 03:13, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- They don't generate randomly, only at level creation if specified in some way. Even with those accounted for, that's far fewer lawful monsters compared to non-lawful ones in Gehennom. --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 04:15, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
