Baby shimmering dragons are monsters unique to SLASH'EM, the baby form of shimmering dragons. In SLASH'EM, baby dragons of all forms are generated randomly like any other monster; you can expect to start seeing them around level 4 or so. Baby shimmering dragons can be a particular problem for early adventurers because their "displacement" really means much lower armor class. At -4, they can be quite difficult to hit.
They can grow up to become shimmering dragons.
