Hello NethackWiki!
I just had a quick question regarding the Amulet and the Wizard.
I was running up through Gehennom after retrieving the Amulet, and the Wizard accosted me as he tends to do. He stole the Amulet and teleported to the stairs. I chased him over, whereupon a black dragon ambushes the pair of us, his disintigration breath reflecting from my armor and hitting the Wizard, killing him instantly. Unfortunately, no Amulet of any kind dropped! Will the Amulet be present on the Wizard when he reappears? Or am I completely screwed? - The Amulet of Yendor is special-cased, so unless the code really wants it to go, the usual object destruction code will usually just ignore it. In the case of monster disintegration, it should end up on the floor – are you sure it's not there? Wizard mode testing confirms it should be there.
