A grappling hook is a tool that is also a weapon. When unidentified, it is an iron hook.

You can apply a grappling hook to a location to achieve various effects: grabbing an item from afar, dragging yourself to a spot, dragging a small monster to you, or accidentally hitting yourself (doing 10-19 points of damage). The effect that occurs is randomly chosen, unless you are at least skilled in flail; in this case, you may choose one of the first three effects to attempt. If skilled in flail, you have a 50% chance of getting your choice; if expert, you have a 95% chance of getting your choice.
