Iron shoes are a kind of non-magical boot. When unidentified, they appear as hard shoes.
They are commonly dropped by dwarves in the Gnomish Mines, and, along with high boots, are one of the only two boots to have a natural AC of 2. They're much easier to find than high boots, but are weightier and incurs a penalty to spellcasting.
