The spellbook of identify takes longer to read than other level 3 spells, but is no more difficult[1]. Some characters with good intelligence and wisdom and a high level will be able to read a spellbook of identify, thus allowing them to use the spell of identify and remove the need for collecting scrolls of identify.
Note that this spellbook is extremely rare, even as far as spellbooks go. The best practice for getting one of these is to make one with a scroll, magic marker, and blank spellbook.
