Tameness
I've heard it said that they're "difficult" to keep tame blah blah many times, but how can you? If they don't eat and you're not a knight they'll go feral after you ride them 5 times (assuming you used charm monster)... right? Is there any way other than eating to raise tameness? If not, then we should stop pussyfooting about and say that any non-knight who want to regularly ride one should establish a way of hatching more of them or something, instead of just letting them know that it's not easy to keep an angelic pet. - It's not only about riding, some people keep them as general purpose pets. Then, you have to watch out how long they are on different level, attacking them when stunned, unsuccessfully #untrappin them from spiked pits etc. AFAIK, the only way to raise tameness is to re-tame it when it goes wild. -Tjr 19:54, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Shield
Can these wear shields? 76.250.192.119 01:00, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- No; they're horses, basically. They happen to be intelligent enough to put on an amulet, but they're not humanoid, so they can't wield weapons or wear armor. -Ion frigate 09:44, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- There is a bug that allows them to wear some armor, I was wondering if shields were included among the armor they can wear. Are you sure they can't wear shields? 76.250.192.119 10:31, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- I believe they can, since they aren't marked as animals in monst.c. The relevant code starts at monmove.c, line 1151. --Tjr 11:47, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

- Wow, I was totally wrong. That definitely sounds like a bug; the mythological and D&D monsters are essentially scaly unicorns, no idea how they'd hold a shield. Oh well... -Ion frigate 00:29, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- I can confirm they do wear shields. I got one by wishing for a blessed figurine and it picked up and equipped a shield of reflection. It's also wearing boots. Not sure about the helmet. --Estragon 14:35, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
