The vampire bat, B, is a monster in NetHack. It is the most powerful variety of bat and, despite its name, cannot drain life.
Its corpse is poisonous, but does not stun the player.
As of 3.6.0, vampire bats, when killed, may come back to life as a vampire or vampire lord.

Biology
This is a real bat. The term actually englobes several species. They eat blood, hence the name.
