A wand of undead turning can be used to revive corpses and rejuvenate eggs. It can be identified when you zap it at yourself even when you carry no corpse or egg to be revived: "You shudder in dread." This is a fairly risk-free method of identifying a wand that does nothing when you engrave it, unless you happen to be carrying, say, a cocktrice corpse or egg.

Generation

Wands comprise 4% of all randomly-generated items in the main dungeon, 6% in containers, 5% on the Rogue level, and 8% in hell. There is a 5% chance that a randomly-generated wand will be a wand of undead turning.
