Yendor

The term was introduced to Rogue and then appeared in Hack and NetHack. Feel free to use this page to speculate on the word Yendor.

"Yendor" is probably a fictional country, similar to names that occur in Tolkien's works (eg, "Gondor", "Endor").

The soldier you will encounter in the dungeon are, according to their encyclopaedia entry, Yendorian soldiers.
