Forum:Convert Vulture savegame to Nethack?

Hi there. I have a very solid game in my house, where I have Vulture installed (human Valkyrie, Excalibur, blessed greased +2 SDSC, blessed greased +2 cloak of MR, blessed bag of holding). Instead of playing at home (I usually play other games such as New Vegas) I'd like to play here in the long dead times at office (when I don't study). Problem is, though I can use the normal nethack app since it's not very NSFW (particularly when not using tiles), Vulture is another matter entirely.

Is there a way to convert the savegame from Vulture to 'normal' Nethack?

The problem isn't so much Vulture versus NetHack, as the differing processors between your home and work machines. NetHack save files aren't designed to work on more than one computer. (It may be that Vulture saves are different from NetHack saves even on the same machine, but that's less likely.)
Although it's theoretically possible to convert saves from one format to another, I'm not sure that anyone's made a tool that does it. So you may be out of luck.
What I'd recommend would be to simply keep two separate save files, one at home, one at work; that'd avoid any problems that there might be with converting your saves. Ais523 (talk) 13:11, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
