Hearse is a program and server that swaps any bones files left after a game session of NetHack ends in death. The bones file is exchanged with any several random bones files that are located on the same dungeon level and use the same game version, configuration and platform. Hearse supports most versions of NetHack between NetHack 3.3.1 and NetHack 3.6.7.
The old Hearse server was disconnected in 2019 after having served for 17 years; as of 2021, a new server has been set up, but the Windows changelog and some stats links are still broken.
