It is inaccurate to state that the ebuild for nethack is masked; rather, the ebuild is unstable-keyworded. Gentoo users wishing to emerge vanilla nethack may need to add games-roguelike/nethack to /etc/portage/package.accept_keywords if they are otherwise maintaining a stable-keyworded system. This being said, there are open bugs much more recent than the one referenced in the article which may pose obstacles to a successful installation. I am unsure as to how the article should be edited which is why I started discussion rather than doing it myself.--Shadow255 (talk) 18:31, 23 August 2025 (UTC)
