Always a Minotaur?

So I'd just like to throw this out there: I'm hacking through a maze level between Medusa and the Castle, and I'm quite certain there is no minotaur on it and pretty sure there never was. I went blind as soon as I walked down the stairs, because Minotaurs scare the begeezus out of me, and couldn't find one anywhere. I've explored the level with no sign, and nothing weird like a hole in the floor (from wand of digging) or a statue of a minotaur (because a cockatrice thought he was cheating at cards or something) either--there is no minotaur, and no sign that there ever was one. I'm playing the vanilla windows client, version 3.4.3 and everything.

I tried doing some source diving, but haven't come up with anything useful yet. Any insights? --Ckbryant 04:24, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

The only thing I can think of is that it was possibly a non-obvious bones level -- perhaps a boulder was blocking the tombstone, or you didn't run across it for some other reason. Almost three years later, that's probably a less-than-satisfactory answer; you probably can't load up the level and check again, can you? :) Delbow 20:22, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Mazes will have 0, 1, or 2 minotaurs. So not every maze has a minotaur. That was an old mistake on the minotaur page. -- Qazmlpok 21:35, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
