The following information pertains to a recently-released stable version ([[{{{1}}}]]) and will be subject to revision as strategy is developed and bugs are discovered and/or fixed.

Usage: Add this template when you want to add information about a freshly-released version of NetHack or possibly a variant. Example:

This template adds the page to Category:Recent, and is designed to establish information on the page concerning recent releases as being somewhat volatile and subject to changes—this is particularly relevant for subjects whose coverage involves a lot of citations pointing to the NetHack source code, as well as elements of NetHack that have been subjected to significant changes between versions, and will also be relevant for strategy sections that inevitably change as players learn the ins and outs of the recently-released version and try different playing styles accordingly.

While somewhat related to the {{upcoming}} template, which is used to detail information about upcoming versions rather than fully released ones, this {{recent}} template is not intended to be simply swapped in and replace one in an article: When incorporating information from an {{upcoming}} template into its article, the article itself should be fully updated to match the state of the subject as of the current release (including detailing changes between versions in the proper section) rather than simply having specific sections and segments of text replaced—from there, this template can be used to mark sections that will need attention as described in the second field, e.g. extended source dives to ensure that all relevant information is detailed properly.
