#terrain is an extended command in NetHack that displays the current level's map without monsters. At the user's choice, it can also hide objects as well, or objects and traps. This command can be useful for finding the stairs when they are hidden beneath an object or a monster.

The following information pertains to an upcoming version (NetHack 3.7.0). If this version is now released, please verify that the information below is still accurate, then update the page to incorporate it.

As of commit b08fb9fb, the #terrain command is now capable of hiding poison clouds and temporary vapor clouds; these are treated as equivalent to traps.

As of commit 788e21ac, the #terrain command is also bound to the delete character (ASCII code 127), which might be generated by the delete or backspace key.

History

The terrain command is introduced in NetHack 3.6.0.
