- You can get information about items by using #examine, or Alt+x. If the item is formally identified, it will describe its effect.

- Wis: Owlbears and treants (vegetarian)
- Cha: Nymphs and avocados (no more teleportitis).
- Skills are more important, and can be reallocated with a Scroll of Retraining.
The Gnomish Mines luckstone is now an artifact that provides poison resistance. Players and monsters have considerably higher HP, especially at low levels. stronger weapons are more dramatically improved over weaker ones. Spells are no longer forgotten, but require material components to be cast. New item slots include Belt and Ioun Stone. Gold is more plentiful and has a range of new uses, including paying for item identification. It's also heavier
Gameplay improvements
- Use 'X' to mix spells, 'Z' to cast them, and 'Alt-z' to view their statistics and manage them. Most spells now use material components that need to be mixed in advance. Many spell components belong to a new reagents item class.

- Improved item and artifact system.
- object properties — Non-magical weapons and armor can have mythic prefixes and suffixes attached to them, such as Stygian (gives life drain to weapons and death and drain resistance to pieces of armor) or dragon slaying. Legendary items have both a prefix and a suffix.
- Exceptional weapons deal double base damage, elite weapons deal triple base damage, and celestial, primordial and infernal weapons deal quadruple base damage, but only if coaligned (double dice)
- Elemental enchantments — 20% chance to wear off, guaranteed for ammo/thrown/stackable weapons
- New wearable item slots — You can now also wear a robe over your suit of armor underneath your cloak, as well as one pair of bracers and five miscellaneous magic items, but only one of each type. There are over ten different types of miscellaneous magic items. Minotaurs are very keen on the new nose rings!

- In-game item and monster information — examine items by pressing 'Alt-x'. Inspect monster statistics using wand of probing.
- New status lines - Supports up to 8 status lines, of which 5 last ones show pet hit points and conditions.
- New status line items - Movement speed
- Improved ranged combat — Launchers add their damage to the fired missile. Also, changing weapons with 'x' does not require a turn, and you can swap a sword and a shield for a bow.
- You can now also dual-wield artifacts.
- Consolidated some weapon skills and increased the skill cap to Grand Master for most skills. Weapon skills also increase your chance to score a critical hit (causing double damage).
- Over a hundred new monsters!
- Encounter system — The game can generate encounters that have any mix of monsters. The difficulty of the encounter is always kept in balance!
- Balanced all monsters
- Improved messaging — The game reports damage caused by an attack, monster difficulty levels, item weights, the weight summary of inventory items, encumbrance levels, as well as experience gained from kills.
- You can now talk to pets and monsters. For example, you can ask peaceful monsters to join your party, angered Mine Town guards to drop the charge for a fee, a priest to heal you, and a shopkeeper to identify your unknown items.
- Pet pathing algorithm
- new Gnoll race replacing gnomes — they can smell the freshness of food items and have race-specific starting items. The more evil members of their kin worship Yeenoghu

maximum mana depends on class, race, level!, a bit of Int and Wis, and item bonuses
- You can identify a fountain by dipping a potion into it. A fountain of healing, mana, power, and poison will auto-identify. If the potion dilutes, it can be either a magic fountain or a fountain of spring water.

- grandmaster: start with a scroll of identify, 316% combat difficulty (169/53% damage) 1/140 (0.7%)

- gameplay modes (only the first two count for the scoreboard):
- classic: permadeath, can't reload (classic on, casual off)
- reloadable: permadeath, saves are kept (both on) [like explore mode]
- modern: respawn at checkpoint, saves are deleted (both off)
- casual: respawn at checkpoint, can reload (classic off, casual on)
Priest: skilled in clerical and healing spells. A chaotic priest is also skilled in necromancy, while a neutral or lawful priest practices abjuration spells.
Wizard: proficient in arcane and enchantment spells.
dwa-kni elves are neutral gnoll: neu/cha (orcs are cannibals)
- Shopkeepers will identify items for a fee.
- Oracle will identify items for a fee.
You cannot hit monsters in melee range with a ranged weapon. There is a to-hit penalty of up to -30 for doing that.
Your pet needs also food. You can check its hunger status with '/'.
