Evilhack extinction notes
- Play like a normal wizard until you get the EotA. Then it's extinction time.
- Play human so you get get 18/** str which is as good as 25 for carrying, dmg, to-hit bonuses.
- Remain at level 18 on dlvl1 for optimal summoning. Use spell Drain Life to keep yourself at 18.
- Always wear a blindfold. Use Detect Monsters and Magic Mapping spells to "see"
- Get Vorpal Sword as fast as possible. Keep it in your stash or bag. It'll end the game in the wrong hands. The yellow @'s might spawn with it so you need to get it first!
- Build a boulder fort in the corner of a level so the impassable game-edge is your backstop.
Create a barrier with boulder for the other two sides. Leave a diagonal gap for fighting monsters. Dig a hole at the back end for quick escape if teleport isn't an option. ......... 0000..... ^..@0.... ---------
- Cast Detect Monsters 10 times in a row to reveal all monsters on a level, even brainless. Repeat constantly.
- Always wear: ProtShapChg, FreeAction, AmuletFlying
- Always in open inv: wands-teleport,dig, lizard corpse, magical breathing.
- See my rc file for examples of these settings...
- Make special MSGTYPE=stop for important game ending events
- Make special AUTOPICKUP rules for important weapons/armor in case they're stolen.
- Make special AUTOPICKUP rules for important general item so you can run around and vacuum them up.
- Colorize important game ending items like *trices so you can easily find them in a pile and pick them up.
- Pickup *trice corpses immediately after killing before bad guys get them.
- Mass summon in Goblin Town once you have create monster and EoTA. It will become your sanctuary once all its inhabitants are extinct.
- Poly troll corpses to keep them from reviving.
- Poly bearded axes (and bullwhips) because any idiot will pick it up and disarm you.
- Keep tons of extra scrolls of enchant armor for inevitable cancellation or destruction of worn armor.
- Keep spare: CoMR, Speedboots, HoB, GoD, CPM, SilverDS - plentiful once lost adventurers appears
- Sunsword is great for perma-killing Z's.
- Never summon near water.
- Spells to keep handy: MM, AcidBlast, Confusion, Teleport, Restore ability, Create Monster, Detect Monster, ID, Polymorph, Drain Life.
- Probe all adventurers before meleeing them. BlackDSM will destroy your main weapon.
- Hit them with Polymorph. If they lack MR they'll immediatey become less scary.
- If they have BlackDSM kill them by draining them with Drain Life. They won't use their potions to heal = phatlewt
- Revgeno antimatter vortices and beholders ASAP. Do it in sokoban zoo behind a boulder fort while blind.
- Mines-end is a great place to finish extincting all monsters above VotD. Often has undiggable walls you can setup shop in to corral monsters to melee one at a time.
- Once you get to gnoll/giant shaman, learn confuse monster and cure sickness. It'll help keep them from mass summoning locusts and save you if your unihorn isn't firing.
- Polymorph all black-scales armor or black dragon scales you find into something innocuous.
- Toques are good because they block Satyr's panflute stun.
- GoD is good because you need to never miss.
- Polypile for: scrolls - charging, genocide, create monster, earth, potions - extra/full healing, gain energy/level, smoky
- Hoard lizard corpses. They'll eventually become extinct. Summon nasties late game can still summon c's.
- Keep a couple tins of floating eye. If you accidentally commit murder you could lose telepathy.
- Keep all those Lembas wafers you find. You won't need slow digestion if you've always got a snack.
- Don't learn "Finger of Death". It can kill you on accident :)
- Power Word Kill is much better as it works through walls and won't instakill you if you hit ESC or miss a direction key.
- Acid Blast is the best AoE spell as most mobs aren't resistant to acid damage.
- Keep some fruit and tripe handy. When mass-summoning, peaceful h,d, and c will get in your way. Tame them and let the crowd kill them off for you.
- In the bag: scrolls - earth, cursed tele, blessed charging. potions - full healing, paralysis, holy water
- For fast monster gen and visibility: assign B-detect monsters, A-create monster. You'll be mashing ZAZAZAZAZAZAZBZBZBZBZBZB all game.
- When Vorpal Jabberwocks appear en masse just wield Vorpal Blade. It prevents being decapitated and one-shots them.
- When at the "&" summoning phase, keep Demonbane as your offhand weapon. Wielding it will prevent them gating in a Demon lord.
- When Balrogs show up, keep a bullwhip handy. If they're wielding a bullwhip, use yours to disarm them before wielding Demonbane to finish them off.
