Cerberus, d, is a unique monster that appears in xNetHack. He is a carnivorous and multiheaded hell hound-like canine that is strong, possesses regeneration and can be seen via infravision. Cerberus guards passage to the majority of Gehennom, and the drawbridge on his level cannot open until he is defeated.
Cerberus has a strong bite attack, a second poisonous bite, a third strong bite that inflicts fire damage, and two strong claw attacks. Cerberus possesses fire resistance.
Eating Cerberus's corpse or tin has a chance of conveying fire resistance.
Generation
Cerberus will always be created hostile, and is not a valid target for polymorph.
Cerberus appears on the center-most island of The Gate of Hell.
Encyclopedia entry
Cerberus, (or Kerberos in Greek), was the three-headed dog
that guarded the Gates of Hell. He allowed any dead to enter,
and likewise prevented them all from ever leaving. He was
bested only twice: once when Orpheus put him to sleep by
playing bewitching music on his lyre, and the other time when
Hercules confronted him and took him to the world of the
living (as his twelfth and last labor).
