A cloak of magic resistance (CoMR) provides MC3 (magic cancellation level 3) and MR3 (magic resistance level 3). Wear this, and you can stop worrying about magic and teleport traps and become immune to any wand of striking or magic missiles fired by an enemy.

Unlike other cloaks, the cloak of magic resistance has a base AC bonus of 1.

A Wizard's starting inventory always contains a cloak of magic resistance, but all other characters must identify the item during the course of the game.

A cloak of magic resistance is a good way to acquire two very important properties, as well as an extra AC boost.

The item could be identified by wearing a cloak (other than an elven cloak, dwarvish cloak, or leather cloak) and stepping onto a magic trap, polymorph trap, teleportation trap, or being subject to magic missiles or striking.
