Cockatrice (monster class)

The cockatrice is a monster class that appears in NetHack, and is represented by the lowercase c glyph (c). Cockatrices are designated internally by the macro S_COCKATRICE.

The class contains the following monsters:

• c chickatrice
• c cockatrice
• c pyrolisk

The term 'cockatrice' or 'c' is often used to refer specifically to cockatrices and chickatrices, excluding pyrolisks, which lack all of the special properties of the other monsters in its class. Another collective term for those monsters is 'footrice'.
