A corpse represents some dead monster; it is a very common comestible. Some monsters do not drop corpses. Other monsters sometimes drop their corpse, but not always. (An exception seems to be trolls.)

Some corpses are poisonous, unless one exhibits poison resistance. Dogs and cats instinctively know not to eat poisonous species. Poisonous corpses include kobolds and their kin, killer bees, etc. All corpses (except fungus spp.?) have shelf life issues...specifically they must be eaten within a very small number of moves of kill. Even one move after a kill, rotten food is possible. More serious is (Ulch!) tainted food, resulting in food poisoning, a normally fatal condition. One antidote is eucalyptus leaf.

Yellow and purple fungi are hallucinogenic. Some claim that shriekers are hallucinogenic; this is incorrect.

It is said that you are what you eat. Of especial interest are the meats of the leprechaun, floating eye, etc.
