Japanese words used in the Samurai quest

This is a list of Japanese words used in the Samurai quest, and translations thereof.

  • Kami- god, spirit
  • Teki- enemy
  • Daimyo- lord
  • Ikaga desu ka- how are you doing?
  • Ronin- masterless samurai
  • Sake, saki- rice wine
  • San- honorific, roughly equal to "mister," but gender-neutral
  • Matsu- pine tree, presumably used in this context to refer to one's patience
  • Hara-kiri- ritual suicide by impaling oneself on one's sword
  • Wakarimasu- understand, as in "do you understand?"
  • Kyokaku- city rebel
  • Bushido- warrior code
  • Donjon- keep
  • Seppuku- ritual suicide
  • Cha-no-you- tea ceremony
  • Sama- honorific, more respectful than "san"
