A meat stick is a type of food that very rarely appears in NetHack.
Contents
Generation
Meat sticks are only created by zapping a spell of stone to flesh at a wand with the marble randomized appearance.
Description
Meat sticks function similarly to tripe rations - carnivorous pets consider it a treat, and keeping one in open inventory will cause them to try and stay close to you. When eaten, they give a meager 5 nutrition.
Strategy
Meat sticks are generally junk items - they typically result from an accidental stone to flesh zap at yourself, or a deliberate one used to cure stoning. A meat stick's nutrition is also incredibly low, so their best use is as a lightweight treat to feed any meat-eating pets or else tame carnivorous domestic animals.
History
The meat stick is introduced alongside the spellbook of stone to flesh in NetHack 3.3.0.
Variants
SLASH'EM
In SLASH'EM, meat sticks can be randomly generated as wares found in food stores.
