A scroll of taming tames tameable monsters nearby. Some monsters can resist. There is no difference between a blessed and uncursed scroll. A cursed scroll instead angers monsters, and being confused while reading a scroll of any BUC status expands the effect to an 11x11 area.
A scroll of taming can also be used to pacify angry shopkeepers.
