A wand of nothing, cost 100, does absolutely nothing, whether zapped or engraved with.
This makes it problematic to identify; the best method is to use a scroll or spell. Alternatively, it is one of a few wands which require no direction; and light, create monster, enlightenment and wishing identify themselves automatically, while secret door detection will reveal any secret doors in the vicinity.
