Wide-angle disintegration beam is the most powerful wrath of a god, and is generally only reserved for those who are very unlucky, very naughty, or both. This will disintegrate any item that can be disintegrated, namely wands, rings, armor, and you. The only way to survive such a blast is either to possess disintegration resistance, or be engulfed by a shock-resistant monster (as the monster must also survive the lightning blast that always precedes the beam). In vanilla, only energy vortices qualify for that category, though it won't be destroyed by the beam due to being disintegration-resistant as well.
