A port is a version of NetHack that can run on a specific kind of computer system, particularly one that is not Unix or Linux.
In NetHack 3.6.7, the guidebook gives credit to developers working on these ports:
- Mac OS X
- Microsoft Windows
- VMS and OpenVMS
- MS-DOS
- curses interface
NetHack attempts to be portable to many more systems, some listed in the README file in the source code. And because NetHack is open-source software, people outside the DevTeam can and do produce ports of their own.
