Amphibious vs Swimming

Just went source diving, here's some details on the difference between amphibious and swimming monsters just so that I can get them noted down without worrying about how to write it into either article:

  • When underwater, you can only mount swimming monsters for riding, not amphibious ones[1]
  • Tridents add +4 to-hit when attacking specifically swimming monsters if both parties are in pools of water, not amphibious monsters[2]
  • Non-swimmers, including amphibious monsters, cannot attack you if you're underwater[3]
  • Riding a non-swimmer, including amphibious monsters, at less than basic riding skill won't let you dip objects into pools of water[4]

All of these references check is_swimmer(), which does indeed specifically return whether the monster has M1_SWIM.[5] Metanite64 (talk) 15:02, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

All quite good to know! --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 19:55, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
