I like to play with an Elven Ranger and when I start a new game I always #name my elven dagger Sting and it become an special artifact that can feel goblins, orcs and uruk-hais. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.253.30.75 (talkcontribs) 17 September 2006

That is a good way to play the early game if you are just starting out, but having Sting in play from the beginning does have its negative sde: It increases the number of artifacts in play, meaning you are less likely to be granted one as part of an offering to your g-d, and lots of other considerations. Some players say that overall it makes little difference, so keep playing with it if it works! Kalon9999 21:41, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

In practice as an elven ranger you eventually want to sacrifice for Stormbringer, and before doing that it's wise to name Sting and Orcrist. So I find it does no harm at all in practice, and it can't hurt to detect and do a little more damage against orcs. If you really want to artiwish, you might want to hold off until you've had your shot at an early wish, and then name and go for Stormy.

Also, if your god has never granted you an artifact, the chance of getting one does not decrease with the number of artifacts in play. Scorchgeek 02:52, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

How I desing ranged weapon?

Hi, when I play a Ranger he starts with a "chosen ranged weapon", and it's very nice press "f" and start firing without changing the weapon, but if I want to choose another I don't know how to do it. Any one can help me?

Thanks

Press w to wield the appropriate launcher and control + q to quiver ammunition. -Tjr 11:21, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

In Sporkhack % will let you select your chosen ranged weapon(allows for fast switching from melee weapon when firing).

HP

Why do they get a d6 and not a d8? -Actual-nh (talk) 18:03, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

The only reason I can figure out is their being based off of the old Elf role, and nobody bothering to fix this... -Actual-nh (talk) 03:33, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
