Welcome!

Welcome!

Hi, Gheynugget! Welcome, and thanks for joining NetHackWiki!

  • The How to help and Style guide pages are excellent starting points.
  • Special:Recentchanges is a great first stop, because you can see what other people are editing right this minute, and where you can help.
  • Questions? Need help? You can ask at the Community Portal, the forum, or on the discussion page associated with each article! Just remember to sign those posts with four tildes: ~~~~. That will expand to create a signature.

You can put {{NAOplayer|NAO player account}} on your user page to link to your NAO player account. Capitalization matters.

We are really happy to have you here, and look forward to working with you!

This is an automated greeting.

You need to include an edit summary

That abuse filter you're hitting? It doesn't allow you to edit unless you provide an edit summary.--Ray Chason (talk) 20:49, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

Also, it'd be nice if we could stop pretending the game isn't still difficult in about 100 other ways, including sudden and hard-to-escape deaths from <Monster> With The Wand of <Insert Damage Type Here>. --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 20:59, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

I'll spare whomever the janitorial work of me trying to make a forum post, sorry about that. I just feel like the legitimacy of approaching ascension is reducing at the area of my game knowledge; it's self gratification: triumphant progress and improvement rather than being pushed further along by patches on hardfought, and feeling that further-along has been given without an increase in skill/knowing. If the early game is experiencing difficulty nerf, I have to suspect it is for repeat ascenders who feel cheated for landing in a trap that they had no vector of gearing or worked-for intrinsics to address it -- no lack of wisdom or patience could've been made over the course of a game and so it feels cheap to them --, yet the early game is the entire realm of my experience and enjoyment of the game. Placing my vote in that box and I will otherwise try to keep my head low.... TLDR: Is it a development goal to keep ascension streaks to a similar probability as it has been historically in terms of difficulty? I'll leave it there. --Gheynugget (talk) 11:47, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
