Forum:Females superior to males?

No, hear me out.

Female players get to polymorph into foo, and reliably lay eggs in exchange for nutrition, and the end product is the foo that you've laid.

Male players get to hatch tame eggs that they find around the dungeon.

When is wishing for the egg of a baby black dragon, more advantageous than polymorphing into a black dragon, then laying several eggs?

When is it smart to opt for male? (Save for Valkyrie, of course.)

It's a pretty minor advantage. If you're planning to gain pets that way, sure, but there are so many other ways to gain pets. Also, pet black dragons aren't as good as you think - unless conflicted, they won't use their breath attack, and even then it tends to be directed at you, not monsters. Probably the best use of being oviparous is getting cockatrice eggs to use as stoning grenades - but that carries a luck penalty, and is still not usually that useful (limited supply, can miss, aforementioned luck penalty, breaks polyselfless conduct, requires a safe space since cockatrices are a crappy form).
And females aren't strictly superior to males - they're vulnerable to instadeath from having a worn ring of levitation replaced with a ring of adornment. Or annoyance from having a cursed ring of adornment put on. Overall, the differences are just really specific and really minor in almost all contexts. -Ion frigate (talk) 20:37, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
