A flame shield is a type of shield that appears in SporkHack. It is made of iron, and appears as a dark red shield when unidentified.

Generation
Flame shields make up 1⁄500 (0.2%) of all armor that is randomly generated on the ground, in general shops or as death drops. Used armor dealerships and antique weapon outlets can also stock flame shields.
Description
While worn, a flame shield grants 2 base AC and fire resistance. Despite its material, the flame shield is not considered bulky armor, although it still applies the same level of spellcasting penalty as most other shields due to its weight of 50 aum.[1]
Strategy
The flame shield is fairly valuable for heroes that want to maintain maximum protection against sources of fire damage and have not yet built up enough intrinsic fire resistance from eating corpses. Identification of the shield is trivial due to its unique unidentified appearance.
