A caterwaul is a new feline in SLASH'EM. It is twice as fast as an unhasted player, but is otherwise unextraordinary. Despite its name, it does not have any sort of noise-making abilities.
Strategy
Caterwauls are extremely fast and have many attacks. However, their attacks do very nonthreatening amounts of damage, and with a decent armor class they are easily managed. Use Elbereth if you are low on hp.
