Food appraisal is a property obtained by reading a blessed scroll of food detection or casting a spell of detect food when at skilled or expert in divination spells.
When you have this intrinsic the description "You can recognize detrimental food" appears upon enlightenment.
This intrinsic warns you when eating food that cause harmful effects and gives you the chance to stop eating or continue. The warnings occur in the following order of priority:
- May be tainted
- May cause petrification (cockatrice or chickatrice corpses)
- May cause sliming (green slime)
- May be rotten
- May be poisonous
- May break a Monk's dietary conduct
- May be acidic
- May be rustproof (if polymorphed into a rust monster)
- May break a vegan or vegetarian conduct (non-Monk)
Food appraisal will not protect you from choking due to over-eating.
