The RNG handed me one of the unfortunate games of nethack where there aren't enough candles in Izchak's store. Up till now I've kept Wishless and Polyless conduct so I'd prefer to not wish or poly for the needed candles. I have 4 candles, and going through every level didn't seem to give me any others. The only other decent source of candles I can think of is from a pudding farm. I've already set up a farm, but several hundred puddings later I haven't gotten any more candles. Are there any other good options for getting the candles while keeping conduct, or are my options limited to "Farm puddings" and "break wishless"? -- Qazmlpok 04:07, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

I wish I knew. I was in an almost identical situation, and I had to work through tens of thousands of puddings before I finally got the candles. Make sure you've thoroughly searched Gehennom, all those obscure corners of the Quest, etc. --Darth l33t 05:40, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
No, you're limited to death drops, items generated along with levels, and breaking conducts. See User:Tjr/object_generation_spoiler if want a source code reading guide how objects are generated. However, you might have missed objects lying in niches or in places such as Fort Ludios. --Tjr 13:50, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
BTW, throne farming is faster than pudding farming. --Tjr
