"Ulch!" is an expression of revulsion that is seen in a few circumstances:
- Eating a tainted corpse: "Ulch - that <food type> was tainted!"[1]
- Eating a rustproof item while a rust monster: "Ulch - that <item> was rustproofed!"[2]
- Quaffing a cursed potion of gain ability: "Ulch! That potion tasted foul!"[3]
- Quaffing a cursed potion of restore ability: "Ulch! This makes you feel mediocre!"[4]
- Inhaling vapors from either of the above: "Ulch! That potion smells terrible!"[5]
- A false rumor: "Ulch! That meat was painted!"[6]
