A casual gamer, I like NetHack for the creativity of its fan base, in generating and sharing so many patches and forks. I have little experience in coding (except in BASIC) but some experience as a writer. My goal in starting an account on this wiki is to get some practice writing for the web while contributing to good article quality for other NetHack players (and perhaps sharing YANI or two of my own).

About the user name: No, I am not really Cherokee. My user name is a reference to the character "Cherokee Jack" in the 1966 cult film Red Zone Cuba aka Night Train to Mundo Fine, immortalized by movie-riffing show Mystery Science Theater 3000, of which I am also a fan.

Current Projects

My current editing priorities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Filling gaps in coverage of variants on the wiki

Much of my recent work has been on dNetHack, primarily supplying material on the bestiary (props to Chris for sharing wiki code for the infoboxes) and the Binder role. I am more cautious about writing about the special racial roles (Hedrow and Female Drow Noble, Elf, Dwarf Knight, etc.) and the new roles (Bard and Anachrononaut), as I haven't had the chance to play them yet.

I also want to do some work on patches and older variants, because the more I read about these, the more I realize how much of their material shows up in newer variants, especially Slash'EM Extended and SLASHTHEM. So by finding homes for links for these older patches/variants, I can also shed some light on a few of the many, many new monsters and items in those variants. Right now I have copies of the code for NetHack-- and SLASH 6, so there may be some new material coming up on those variants.

I have also done some work on UnNetHack 5.1.0, which I will probably revisit soon.

• General proofreading of content
