A yumi is a type of bow used by samurai. When unidentified, it is a long bow. You should not bash monsters with it, or throw it—instead, wield it in your hands, then throw arrows (or fire them from your quiver).
For non-samurai, a yumi is basically the same as a regular bow. Samurai, however, get the following bonuses:
- +1 to-hit bonus when using a yumi (in addition to their normal bow bonus)[1]
- +1 multishot bonus when firing ya from a yumi[2]
- +1 damage bonus when firing ya from a yumi[3]
Encyclopedia entry
The samurai is highly trained with a special type of bow, the yumi. Like the ya, the yumi is made of bamboo. With the yumi-ya, the bow and arrow, the samurai is an extremely accurate and deadly warrior.
